Born in 1958. B.A. University of Urbino; MBA ISTAO Ancona; PhD Stirling (UK). 1985 to 1986: Responsible for market and industry research at CEDIM (Ancona). 1987 to 1994: Research and consulting activities for private and public institutions in the following fields: a) applied industrial research with specific regard to the systems of small firms; b) applied research in the economics and management of small firms; c) project analysis and business planning. 1994 to 2001: Researcher of Applied Economics and assistant professor of Business Economics at the University of Urbino. 2001 to 2005: Researcher of applied economics and assistant professor of Business Economics at the Polytechnic University of the Marche (former University of Ancona), Faculty of Engineering. 2005 to present: Associate professor of applied economics in the same university

My research interests are in the field of entrepreneurship and small and medium sized firms, with specific regard to organizational and governance aspects. From 1985 I have participated in several research projects, funded by private and public institutions, at local and national level. The research projects I am now involved in are the following: - the changes in the systems of small firms in Italy, with specific regard to the growth strategies and the organization of medium sized firms; - the growth process of small and medium sized firms and its relationship with business cluster formation; - the financing of small firms, with specific regard to the relationships between the ownership structure and the investment and financing decisions.

Since 1988 I have been lecturing for the course of Industrial Organization at the Faculty of Economics in Ancona, on the topics of strategic behaviour and organization of firms. Since 1986 I have been organizing teaching modules for the post-graduate courses in business administration run by ISTAO (Istituto Adriano Olivetti) of Ancona. They concern the valuation of new business ventures and the development of the business plan. In 1992 and 1993 I was appointed contract professor of Business Economics in the University of Urbino. From 1998 to 2001 I was an assistant professor of Business Economics in the same University. Since October 2001 I have held several courses of Business Economics and Business organization the Polytechnic University of Marche, Faculty of Engineering. Since 1986 I have participated in several courses organized by private and public institutions. The topics covered within those courses were as follows: a) the economics of small firms; b) business planning; c) financial analysis and planning.
